Our planet faces massive economic, social and environmental challenges. To combat these, the United Nations developed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These Goals serve as a framework for companies to help tackle the UN’s global priorities and aspirations for 2030; to eliminate extreme poverty and put the world on a sustainable path.
Nuclera has committed to working toward the goals that are both aligned with our business model and relevant to our industry.
Goal 4 - Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Nuclera created the Nuclera Cares initiative to formalize the company’s charitable giving efforts and to focus these efforts towards charities that align to both the UN goal of “inclusive and equitable quality education” and our industry niche, “Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths”.
We decided to dedicate the Nuclera Cares programme to the charity Cambridge Science Centre. Their model of pop-up science centers and outreach helps them support young learners, their teachers and their parents/guardians in their own spaces.
In particular they partner with schools and communities to:
- Spark scientific curiosity
- Ignite a passion for discovery
- Fuel self-belief in those who doubt their potential
- Illuminate pathways into STEM education and careers
Goal 9 - Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation.
As Nuclera has rapidly expanded through 2022 there was a need to consolidate office space to one building at the Cambridge, UK headquarters.
While commissioning of this new office steps were made to retrofit the existing infrastructure to make it more sustainable. Sustainable furniture made of recycled materials and retrofitting insulation were some of these measures.
